Al Huang is a senior attorney in NRDC's urban program in New York. Al coordinates the environmental justice work at NRDC. He litigates and advocates on behalf of low-income communities throughout the country who are fighting environmental hazards, utilizing a model that emphasizes community-based organizing and litigation. Al also helps to coordinate the marshalling of NRDC technical and legal resources in support of environmental justice communities. His work involves litigation and policy advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels.
Al joined NRDC in 2005 after working as an attorney at the Environmental Health Coalition, a community-based and led environmental justice organization in San Diego, for three years. He previously worked and completed legal clerkships at the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California; the Center on Race, Poverty, and the Environment; and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. He received his law degree and master's degree in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School. Al also currently serves on the Environmental Justice Committee of the American Bar Association and is an adjunct professor of law at Fordham Law School.
