Alice Henly is a Resource Specialist at NRDC and is Coordinator of NRDC's Collegiate Sports Greening Project. Alice helps manage NRDC's sustainability initiatives with major sports and entertainment organizations, including Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, Major League Soccer, the U.S. Tennis Association and NASCAR, among many others. Alice is the principal advisor to the Ivy League on environmental performance and helped found the Ivy Green Initiative. She is also an advisor to the Steering Committee of the Broadway Green Alliance and to the Green Sports Alliance.
Alice is the author of NRDC's 2013 publication "Collegiate Game Changers: How Campus Sports is Going Green," the first-ever compilation of college sports greening successes from across the United States. She is also a principal author of NRDC’s 2012 report "Game Changer: How the Sports Industry is Saving the Environment," which documents North America's professional sports greening leaders. In July 2012, she helped the NRDC Sports Project win the Beyond Sport’s Sport for the Environment award at their pre-Olympic Summit in London.
Prior to joining NRDC, Alice worked with the Yale Climate & Energy Institute at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen. She was a co-founder of Yale's Bulldog Sustainability program, which works on the environmental performance of Yale Athletics. Alice has a BA from Yale University in Political Science/Environmental Politics and Policy and is a LEED Green Associate. As a Yale Varsity rower, Alice was a three-time NCAA Division I National Rowing Champion, All-American First Team Awardee, CRCA National Scholar-Athlete and Royal Henley Women’s Regatta Champion.
