Bio

Henry Henderson is director of NRDC's midwest program, based in Chicago, Illinois, addressing air, water, energy, and sustainable community issues in the eight Midwestern states. Henry’s expertise is in the area of law and the environment, with a focus on clean energy, pollution remediation, and protection of the health, safety, and sustainability of people and their communities.

Prior to joining NRDC in 2007, Henry served as assistant attorney general for the State of Illinois. He is the founding commissioner of environment for the City of Chicago and was a principal in Policy Solutions, an environmental and public policy consulting firm. He also taught environmental law and policy at the University of Chicago and was senior fellow in the Great Cities Institute at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He holds degrees from Kenyon College, Oxford University, University of Chicago, and Washington University.
