Save centuries-old coral from destruction
The Atlantic’s undersea canyons currently thrive with teeming marine life and centuries-old deep sea coral communities. These fragile corals could be destroyed with one pass of a bottom trawl fishing net. Urge the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council to protect these rich and vulnerable deep sea corals before it is too late.
Protect San Onofre State Beach from the Foothill-South Toll Road
Five years ago, the California Coastal Commission shut down plans for a six-lane toll road to run through San Onofre State Beach because of potential harm to the coastline. Now, a local toll road agency is resurrecting those plans. Tell the water board to protect San Onofre by rejecting these efforts.
Californians: Tell Governor Brown not to jeopardize the Bay-Delta ecosystem
Increasing water exports from California’s Bay-Delta estuary have contributed to the decline of salmon and other native fisheries, with many fish species now listed under the Endangered Species Act. Tell Governor Brown that any new conservation plan for the Bay-Delta must reduce water exports, at least until salmon and other native fisheries recover.
Call on President Obama to block the Pebble Mine
The Environmental Protection Agency has determined that the destructive Pebble Mine would be devastating to the environment and people of Alaska's Bristol Bay. Call on President Obama to protect the spectacular ecosystem of Bristol Bay and tell the EPA to use its authority under the Clean Water Act to stop the Pebble Mine.
Tell Secretary Jewell to close the Polar Bear Seas to oil drilling
After a string of mishaps, Shell announced that it will not drill this summer in the Arctic, but reaffirmed its plans to drill there in the future. Call on Interior Secretary Sally Jewell to put the Polar Bear Seas permanently off-limits to Big Oil.
Tell the EPA to protect kids from toxic pesticides in pet flea collars
Although we have safer options for controlling fleas on our pets, the EPA still allows dangerous pesticides, such as propoxur, to be used in flea collars. Tell the EPA to ban these toxic chemicals in pet products.
Urge the Department of Agriculture to act now to save bees
Although honey bees are crucial to producing about one-third of all the food we eat, the Department of Agriculture has failed to meet crucial research needs to determine the cause of colony collapse disorder, which is devastating hives across the country. Urge the Department of Agriculture to act now to save bees.
