High Performance Tenant Demonstration Project
In September 2011, the Natural Resources Defense Council, Johnson Controls Inc., Jones Lang LaSalle, and Goldman Sachs entered into a CGI commitment on a new three-year project to grow demand for green buildouts in commercial tenant spaces. Malkin Holdings LLC, SKANSKA, ULI/Greenprint Foundation, and Vornado Realty Trust are participating partners in the project, and provide vital expertise. The project is working with pioneering tenants including Bloomberg LP, Reed Smith and a number of tenants in the Empire State Building.
Working in tenant spaces offers the opportunity to significantly reduce carbon emissions and energy use, while creating new jobs. The team is working with early-adopter tenants to incorporate green measures into their buildouts, identify and break down barriers to doing green buildouts, commercialize the business case and provide a roadmap for green buildouts, and aggressively publicize the benefits.
The 2012 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting featured our project once again, this time in the form of a progress report video. The video opened the Women and the Built Environment: Designing for Opportunity session.
