NRDC's "green" office is located in a new building designed by Henry Cobb, of the renowned architectural firm of Pei, Cobb, Freed, and Partners. The Croxton Collaborative, a New York firm, was responsible for the energy and environmental features of the building, which include an air conditioning system free of chemicals that harm the ozone layer, as well as other additional innovative architectural and engineering features that help cut energy consumption by 50 percent.

NRDC won the 1997 Lewis Mumford Award for Environment from Architects, Designers and Planners for Social Responsibility for our green building work in the Washington, DC office.

For details on the building materials and technologies used in our eco-office, see NRDC'S WASHINGTON, D.C. ECO-OFFICE: Tomorrow's Workplace, Today. The report includes product listings and contact information useful to building industry professionals and others interested in "green" architecture and design.
