Paper Overview
The virgin-timber based paper industry is the leading consumer and the leading polluter of freshwater in industrialized countries, as well as the third-largest industrial emitter of global warming pollution. Moreover, it contributes to the destruction of millions of acres of forest habitat needed for survival by countless species. By reducing your firm’s paper use and purchasing paper products made with recycled fiber, chlorine-free bleaching, and Forest Stewardship Council–certified wood fiber, you help to reduce these impacts. Paper made with recycled content avoids habitat impacts, produces significantly less air and water pollution and uses less energy than paper made entirely from wood fibers.
