Take action on the Bay Area's behalf. Here are some ways you can help reduce water diversions from the Bay-Delta.
- Reduce your own demand on Bay-Delta water supplies by conserving water in your home. Take shorter showers, turn off the water while you brush your teeth and shave, run washing machines and dishwashers only when they're full. Check your pipes and faucets for leaks or drips. Even a small drip can waste hundreds of gallons a month.
- Buy products that conserve water, such as low-flush toilets, low-flow showerheads and faucets, and high-efficiency clothes washers, which use up to 20 gallons less water per load.
- You'll find lots more ways to conserve water in our guide to saving water and keeping it clean. (For still more Bay Area green-living tips, see all our Green Gate Green Guides.)
