Clarification Regarding Assertions of Steven Q. Andrews

We would like to clarify that NRDC has not verified the data, methodology or assertions regarding Beijing air quality monitoring reported by independent environmental consultant Steven Q. Andrews in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times in January 2008. Andrews was funded by Princeton-in-Asia (an incorporated US NGO) and interned in the NRDC Beijing Office as a Princeton-in-Asia Fellow during September 2006 -- September 2007, but not in the capacity of an NRDC staff. NRDC did not request or fund Andrews' research or analysis associated with the articles. Hence, the views of Andrews as reflected in these articles are his own and do not reflect the position of NRDC. For more information about the NRDC China program, write to chinainfo@nrdc.org.
