Making a Bequest to NRDC

The planet faces mounting challenges to its health in the 21st Century -- global warming, species extinction, unsustainable exploitation of natural resources. A bequest to NRDC helps ensure that we can continue to apply our legal and scientific expertise to safeguard the environment, protect public health and preserve precious natural resources in the years ahead.

Types of Bequests

With a gift through your Will or Trust, you can provide for NRDC's future work for the environment by leaving a particular asset, in the form of cash or stock, to NRDC.

A specific bequest allows you to leave a specified dollar amount to NRDC from a specific source or a particular item.

A residuary bequest allows you to leave a "remainder" or a percentage of your estate to NRDC after all other bequests have been made, and all debts, expenses and taxes have been paid.

A contingency bequest allows you to make your gift contingent in the eventuality that your named beneficiary has predeceased you at the time your Will is probated.

Legal Designation

If you wish to name NRDC in your Will or estate plan, we should be named as:

Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc. whose corporate address is 40 West 20th Street, New York, NY 10011.

NRDC is an IRS-approved 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization and our tax exempt identification number (EIN) is 13-2654926.

Additional Ways to Remember NRDC in Your Estate Plans

There are several alternative ways to include NRDC in your estate plans, such as through IRAs or other pension plans. For more information about different bequest possibilities, please contact the Office of Gift Planning.
