ELLERSLIE LAKE lies in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest. The region's many creeks form an amazingly diverse repository of salmon stocks, with each creek producing a unique strain of fish. At the insistence of the Heiltsuk people, logging plans for the lake have been deferred.

This snow and ice on Lake Ellerslie are unusual for Great Bear, where the permanent cloud and mist cover moderates the temperature and keeps winters mild.
