DENALI NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE in Alaska features spectacular mountains and glaciers, and is home to America's highest peak -- the 20,320-foot Mount McKinley. This 6-million-acre Park is also one of the few intact ecosystems remaining on the planet. It provides vital habitat for 37 species of mammals, 155 bird species, and over 450 plant species.

Established in 1917 (as Mt. McKinley National Park), Denali was designated an international biosphere reserve in 1976. It serves as an ongoing research laboratory for natural scientists, while its abundant opportunities for wildlife viewing, mountaineering and backpacking make it a nature lover's dream.
