Water Conservation and Efficiency Are California's Best Solution for Drought, Says NRDC
Statement of Barry Nelson, NRDC Western Water Project Director

SAN FRANCISCO (June 4, 2008) – Today California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger proclaimed a statewide drought in California. Following is a statement by Barry Nelson, Director of the Western Water Project at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

Statement by Barry Nelson, NRDC Western Water Project Director:

“Energy conservation kept California’s lights on during the last energy crisis. Water conservation can keep our taps flowing during this drought. That’s why NRDC is sponsoring AB 2175, which was recently passed by the Assembly and which is now being considered by the Senate. This bill would implement the governor’s goal of reducing per capita water use by 20 percent.”
