Majority Leader Reid Introduces Plan to Prevent Future Oil Spills

WASHINGTON (July 27, 2010) – Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nevada) today introduced a Clean Energy jobs and Oil Spill Accountability Plan. The following is a statement by Sarah Chasis, Director of the Oceans Program at the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“The BP disaster in the Gulf is a sobering reminder of the serious environmental and economic risks associated with oil drilling. We cannot let Big Oil continue to perpetrate such atrocities against our precious natural resources, and Senator Reid’s plan will begin to put in place the safeguards to ensure this never happens again.”
