Environmental News: Media Center
WASHINGTON (February 28, 2011) – Bob Keefe, a veteran journalist and Washington correspondent for Cox Newspapers, today joined the Natural Resources Defense Council as senior press secretary in Washington.
During a journalism career that spanned more than 20 years, Keefe has covered a wide range of environmental stories, from the melting glaciers in Alaska to wetlands in Florida.
A North Carolina native, Keefe most recently covered Congress, the White House and politics for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The award-winning Keefe also has worked at a number of other top newspapers, including the Boston Globe, the St. Petersburg Times and the Austin American-Statesman.
“Building on his career in the service of the public’s right to know, Bob will be devoting his energy and talents to promoting responsible stewardship of our environment,” said Bob Deans, NRDC’s associate communications director and himself a former Washington-based Cox correspondent. “He is bringing to the job the judgment of a seasoned journalist, the clarity of a gifted writer and the passion of a young father committed to our common future.”
