Environmental News: Media Center
WASHINGTON (March 10, 2011) –- The House Energy and Power Subcommittee today dug America into a deeper hole by passing a bill that strips the Environmental Protection Agency's ability to restrict carbon dioxide pollution, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council.
The following is a statement from Franz Matzner, NRDC's climate and air legislative director:
"The subcommittee has voted to allow our biggest polluters to spew unlimited amounts of carbon dioxide pollution into the air. Instead of embracing solutions to end our oil addiction, the panel has dug us into a deeper hole. The bill is a threat to our health, to our economy and to our national security."
