NRDC: Michael Connor “Excellent Choice” for Interior Deputy

WASHINGTON (July 31, 2013) -- President Obama has announced his intention to nominate Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Michael Connor as the new Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior.

Sharon Buccino, director of the Land and Wildlife program at the Natural Resources Defense Council, made the following statement:

“This is an excellent choice. Michael Connor will bring experience, vision and judgment to this key position in the department. At the Bureau of Reclamation he showed he can navigate through partisanship to find solutions, and he demonstrated a commitment to river restoration and water conservation. He recognizes that the climate is changing and appreciates the critical role that Interior plays in responding to it.”
