Governor Brown Extends Climate Commitment Across Border
SACRAMENTO (July 28, 2014) – California Governor Jerry Brown signed a climate change memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Mexico's Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources today. This California-Mexico accord follows a series of MOUs Governor Brown has signed with leaders from countries including China, Canada, Israel, and Peru to address the threat of climate change.
The following is a statement from Ann Notthoff, California Advocacy Director for the Natural Resources Defense Council:
“This California-Mexico agreement is exactly the type of international collaboration we need to combat the global threat of climate change. It commits both parties to work together to measure, monitor and reduce climate change pollution and presents an opportunity for California and Mexico to learn from each other’s efforts to curb pollution. Today’s accord is an important step in North America’s climate leadership.”
