Florida Coastal and Ocean Policy Report Card

The Florida Coastal and Ocean Coalition is a group of organizations, including NRDC, working together to conserve, protect, and restore Florida's coastal and marine environment. The Florida Coastal and Ocean Policy Report Card provides a detailed analysis and evaluation of the legislative and government actions taken in Florida during 2007 and 2008 toward the goals of curbing unwise coastal development, protecting coastal and marine habitats, implementing and enforcing coastal and ocean pollution laws, protecting marine ecosystems, ensuring robust and plentiful fisheries and marine species, reducing global warming pollution and strengthening coastal and ocean governance in Florida. The Report Card evaluates progress made in these areas against recommendations laid out in the Coalition's report entitled Florida's Coastal and Ocean Future: A Blueprint for Economic and Environmental Leadership. Each section of the Report Card presents an analysis of progress made, critical opportunities missed, counterproductive actions taken and steps that can be done to improve performance.
