One of the environment's best friends, New York Representative Sherwood Boehlert can't be muzzled. The chair of the House Science Committee and seven other Republicans recently sent a letter to fellow reps objecting to anti-environmental riders that had been stealthily attached to budget bills. (Three of them would open up the Tongass National Forest to logging.) In the past he's also teamed up with Edward Markey (D-MA) to try to up the fuel economy of SUVs and light trucks-one of many signs that Boehlert, who recently toured research stations in Antarctica, thinks it's time that we adjust our attitude toward global warming.
