Maudlyne Ihejirika is an award-winning, 29-year Chicago Sun-Times reporter who most recently penned its "Chicago Chronicles" column spotlighting Black and Latine communities. After retiring in 2022, she now writes on racial equity issues for national outlets and manages journalism grants for the Field Foundation of Illinois. She is author of Escape From Nigeria: A Memoir of Faith, Love and War, a tale of her family's survival of the brutal Nigerian-Biafran War. A sought-after speaker who has presented university commencement speeches, Ihejirika holds an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Saint Xavier University and has appeared as a political analyst on BBC, CNN, PBS, FOX, ABC, and CBS TV, NPR Radio, and more.
