Back in August I blogged that Colorado was delaying consideration of important new clean air rules needed to rein in dangerous ozone being generated by oil and gas polluters. These rules are important because U.S. EPA has designated nine Colorado counties in violation of federal air pollution standards.
The latest good news is that the Colorado Air Pollution Control Division is expected to issue draft rules next week. But the bad news is that these draft rules will apparently be too weak to truly protect air quality, human health, and the climate from the harms of oil and gas production.
There is still time for Coloradans to write to the Governor to ask for rules that require the best available technology and are as strong as possible to protect the environment. Our local partner Conservation Colorado has made it easy for anyone to send a letter from this link.
