When Mercedes Falber joined NRDC in 1998, the organization had just 150 staff members in four U.S. offices—today, NRDC has 500 employees in seven offices, including one in Beijing. Leading the transformation of the human resources department from a clerical function to a team capable of supporting the organization's complex operational goals and growing staff, Falber recommended and implemented a restructure that increased alignment of HR staff with NRDC’s programs and administrative functions. She now leads a team of 16, which focuses on employee relations; recruiting; diversity, equity and inclusion; talent management; total rewards; training and development; and performance management. Falber has a bachelor's from Baruch College. She's also a Senior HR Professional certified by the Society Human Resources Management and has an Advanced Certificate in Strategic HR Management from the ILR School with Cornell University. She is based in New York City.
