Pete Altman
Pete Altman guides the strategic direction of NRDC’s federal policy campaigns. He was formerly NRDC’s climate campaign director, responsible for NRDC’s efforts to build public support for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan and protect the Clean Air Act. Prior to his arrival at NRDC in 2007, Altman served as a project manager at the National Environmental Trust and as executive director of the Sustainable Energy and Economic Development Coalition in Texas—where he helped pass a landmark bill that forced the cleanup of the state’s dirty power plants and established the state’s first renewables and efficiency resource standards. He also ran Campaign ExxonMobil, a coalition of investors that persuaded the oil giant's shareholders to vote against the company’s recalcitrant position on global warming. Altman attended Hampshire College and the University of Texas at Austin. He is based in Washington, D.C.
