Walton Shepherd works to ensure southern states like Virginia take commonsense, people-first climate action to lower everyday costs of living and slash carbon pollution. Prior to joining NRDC, he worked in his native West Virginia to expand energy efficiency and renewable energy. He has also previously worked as an English teacher and in book publishing. Shepherd holds a bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College, an MBA from the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics, and a JD from the West Virginia College of Law. He lives in Richmond, Virginia.
