New poll shows overwhelming bipartisan support for stronger oil and gas regulations

A recent poll in Colorado conducted by the National Wildlife Federation makes clear that most people don't buy the oil and gas industry's advertisements that stronger environmental protections must lead to economic sacrifice or job losses. We have been saying that it's a false trade-off for years; there are win-win solutions that can protect our health and communities while also preserving jobs. Here is what the poll found:

62% agree that oil and gas companies can't be trusted to police themselves and that the best operational practices have to be mandatory.

Only 33% agree that new regulations will cost jobs and raise prices. Only 28% agreed that regulations should be weaker.

If there was any doubt that the public supports stronger protections from oil and gas pollution, this poll should put it to rest.
