Talking the talk on hydraulic fracturing chemical disclosure

Yesterday I blogged about some oil and gas companies that have stated their support for the public disclosure of hydraulic fracturing chemicals, and why this is a good idea.  Earlier today, at a meeting of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Congresswoman Diana DeGette proposed an amendment that would require such disclosure. Video of the discussion is available on line. NRDC supported this amendment. The Chairman of the Committee, Henry Waxman, asked Congresswoman DeGette to postpone consideration of this amendment in order to have discussions with companies to see if any would support disclosure legislation. We were disappointed that there was not a vote on this amendment and, in particular, extremely disappointed that no companies stepped up to support it. While some companies have been talking the talk, none are walking the walk.
