Staff Attorney, Water program
Becky Hayat focuses on water-quality issues, including stormwater pollution, urban water efficiency, and water conservation. Her work often finds her monitoring cities’ compliance with stormwater and sewer-system requirements as well as identifying opportunities for integrating green-infrastructure solutions to reduce urban runoff. Prior to joining NRDC in 2013, Hayat interned at the Los Angeles Waterkeeper, where she handled cases involving the enforcement of industrial stormwater permits. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a JD from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is based in Santa Monica.
