Schneider Sustainable Energy Fellow, Energy & Transportation program
Kala Viswanathan aims to mitigate the risks of climate change by promoting clean energy solutions. She works with utilities and regulatory agencies to advocate for sustainable energy services and promote emerging renewables technologies. Prior to joining NRDC, she received bachelor’s and master's degrees in civil and environmental engineering from Duke University and Stanford University, respectively. At Stanford, she was a member of the Stanford Energy Transformation Collaborative, an initiative that used the targeted application of distributed energy resources—such as storage, rooftop solar, energy-efficient devices, and demand response—to mitigate grid stress at congested substations. She works out of NRDC’s San Francisco office.
