NRDC's President on Biofuels

In the latest issue of OnEarth, NRDC's president, Frances Beinecke, has a thoughtful letter about biofuels, agriculture, soil, and global warming. (N.B. The letter is not available yet on the site, but should be soon.) The letter builds on a speech she gave recently to the Prairie Festival, and makes the important point that biofuels can be an critical tool to stop and reverse global warming, but only if we do it in conjunction with vehicle fuel economy performance and an array of other solutions and we set standards to makes sure the market for biofuels develops in a sustainable way.

The full speech is available here and is definitely worth a read. When I get a chance, I'll except a few of my favorite passages.
