Rob Perks

National Campaign Director, Center for Campaigns & Organizing

Rob Perks directly oversees the Center of Policy Advocacy’s campaigns and outreach units and NRDC’s Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) affiliate, which collectively execute advocacy and public affairs strategies and build the institution’s long-term influence with policymakers. Perks began his career at NRDC in 2001 as communications director for the Advocacy Center. He moved on to American Rivers in 2005, serving as acting vice president for outreach and communications, before returning to NRDC in 2007 to form the Center for Advocacy campaigns, an early forerunner to the current Campaigns & External Affairs division that he leads. In that role, he also briefly guided the NRDC Action Fund. Perks began his environmental career immediately after graduating from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, organizing grassroots activists for local environmental issues in Florida and Virginia. After earning a master’s degree from the prestigious EVST program at the University of Montana, Perks managed the field and get-out-the-vote operations for former U.S. Senator Max Baucus’s successful re-election campaign. He then became the first-ever national field director for Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) in Washington, D.C. Perks also served as the executive director of the Pamlico-Tar River Foundation in Washington, North Carolina. He is based in NRDC’s Washington, D.C. office.
