From Anchorage, Alaska to Washington, D.C. the message to EPA is clear: No Pebble Mine.

The people of Bristol Bay sent EPA a message published in today’s Alaska Dispatch News. The takeaway is simple: “Fish First. Pebble Never.”

The ad reads: “Don’t give away our bay to foreign mining interests. Bristol Bay’s thousands of fishing jobs and way of life cannot be put at risk by the Pebble Mine.  Pebble Mine will always be the wrong mine in the wrong place.”

Bristol Bay tribes, commercial fishermen and sportsmen also ran an ad on Politico.com targeting the D.C. market.

The ad reads: “The Pebble Mine puts AMERICAN JOBS and a fishing way of life AT RISK.”  And it links to this message asking EPA to “stand with Alaskans and protect American jobs.”

The tagline reads: “Bristol Bay First. Pebble Mine Never.”

The message sent today is as crystal clear as Bristol Bay’s legendary salmon-filled waters.  No Pebble Mine.  Not now, not ever.  NEVER.

EPA, are you listening?
