NRDC Response to Sen. Boxer's Climate Principles Announcement

WASHINGTON (February 3, 2009) -- The Natural Resources Defense Council supports Sen. Barbara Boxer’s (D-Calif.) announcement on global warming principles and the importance of climate legislation in 2009.

 

Following is a statement by Frances Beinecke, President of NRDC:

 

“This is a critical moment in the fight against global warming. Congress must act this year on strong policies to cut global warming pollution, which will move us toward economic, energy and climate security. Today, Senator Boxer announced she is committed to make this happen.

 

“There is growing agreement -- among businesses, labor unions, faith groups, elected officials, environmentalists and conservationists -- that we must meet the challenge of global warming with bold and swift action.

 

“We look forward to working with Senator Boxer and her colleagues in the Senate to craft a strong, science-based bill that will help us avoid the worst impacts of global warming.”
