New Ad Demonstrates Broad Support for Action on Clean Energy and Climate

WASHINGTON (January 21, 2010) -- More than 80 leading businesses, labor unions, faith, national security and environmental organizations launched a national print ad campaign today calling for swift action by Congress to pass clean energy and climate legislation. As President Obama prepares for the State of the Union and the Senate sets its agenda for 2010, the ad -- called “A Question of Leadership” -- is a national call-to-action by more than 70 major U.S. businesses, along with many others, that support comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation that increases our security and limits emissions, as it preserves and creates jobs.

“American businesses and others across the political spectrum are standing up at this critical moment to show their support for comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation that will create jobs, limit emissions, enhance our global competitiveness, and make America a leader for the 21st century,” said Frances Beinecke, President of the Natural Resources Defense Council, which signed onto the ad. “This legislation is essential for our security, our economy, and the environment. Now, we're looking to leaders in the Senate from both sides of the aisle to come together and take action that will unleash innovation and put us in control of our future.”

The ad will run in the Wall Street Journal and in Politico until the State of the Union (on January 27).
