House Budget is Out of Step With Country's Needs

Republican Spending Measure Will Hurt Public Health

WASHINGTON (April 15, 2011) – By approving the budget proposal by Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., today, the House showed just how out of touch it is with the country’s needs, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council.

The following is a statement from Scott Slesinger, director of legislative affairs at the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“We all know this bill isn’t going anywhere, and this is a good thing because it is completely out of step with what the country needs to protect our health and environment. Cutting funds for everything from the Environmental Protection Agency to infrastructure and transit improvements, this budget does nothing to move the country forward. It just moves us back.”
