IPCC Extreme Weather Report Shows We Must Curb Carbon Pollution

NRDC: “It’s Not Too Late To Act.”

WASHINGTON – (Nov. 18, 2011) A comprehensive report released today by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change confirms what most people already know: The intensifying extreme weather events in the United States and around the world are linked to climate change.

The following is a statement from Natural Resources Defense Council President Frances Beinecke:

“This is what persistent climate denial and political paralysis has brought us: extreme weather events that endanger our health and further strain the budgets of families and governments alike.

“It’s not too late to act. We still have time to shield ourselves from worse impacts, but we have to start cutting carbon pollution now.”
