Udall Legislation Good Foundation for More Renewable Energy

NRDC: “This legislation is just what the doctor ordered: more jobs, less pollution”

WASHINGTON (October 29, 2013) – Continuing their fight to enact a federal renewable energy standard, Senators Tom Udall and Mark Udall today introduced legislation that would require utilities to generate 25 percent of their electricity from wind, solar and other renewable energy sources by 2025.

Franz Matzner, associate director of government affairs at the Natural Resources Defense Council, made the following comment:

“A national renewable energy standard is key to helping meet our moral obligation to cut pollution, address climate change, and protect our health and environment.

“To break our dependence on fossil fuels, we need to expand the existing clean energy economy, which will create good-paying jobs that can’t be exported, while simultaneously cutting dangerous pollution.

“In short, this legislation is just what the doctor ordered: more jobs, less pollution.”
