World Poised to Agree on Phasing Down Super Pollutant HFCs
WASHINGTON – Significant momentum is building with an announcement today that more than 100 countries, major businesses and financing entities supporting an aggressive agreement this year to phase down climate-damaging hydrofluorocarbons under the Montreal Protocol, the treaty that first addressed the ozone hole in Earth’s atmosphere.
The following is a statement from Anjali Jaiswal, senior attorney and Director, India Initiative at the Natural Resources Defense Council
“The world is poised to take historic action against climate change under the Montreal Protocol. Our drive to phase down hydrofluorocarbons cannot be complete without all major countries rallying around strong agreement that rapidly curbs these supercharged climate pollutants. We look forward to working with partners in India and around the world to achieve the most significant climate action the world can take to combat climate change since December's global agreement in Paris.”
