California Senate Passes #PreserveCA Package
SACRAMENTO — The California Senate today passed a trio of bills that will protect the state’s greatest assets – its people and its natural resources – from looming threats under the Trump administration. The “Preserve California” package (SB 49, 50 and 51) will:
- Make current federal clean air, clean water, worker safety, safe drinking water and endangered species standards enforceable under state law even if the Trump administration rolls back and weakens those standards.
- Allow California to protect its federal lands – which make up nearly half the state – from being sold to private parties for mining, oil drilling or other exploitive activities.
- Protect federal employees working in California from losing their licenses for speaking out about unlawful or unethical actions or dangers to public health and safety committed by their agencies or others.

“We value the amazing natural resources we have in this state and refuse to let the Trump administration put corporate interests and profits ahead of the rights and health of everyday Americans. Thank goodness we live in a state that is willing to stand up for its people and the beautiful, irreplaceable places that make California so great.”
