NRDC Urges Senate to Reject Trump’s Judicial Nominee

WASHINGTON – The Natural Resources Defense Council today called on the Senate to reject the nomination of Leonard Steven Grasz to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, expressing "great concern" over his ability to “carry out his judicial responsibilities with the impartiality that they require."

In a letter to the Senate, Scott Slesinger, NRDC’s legislative director, cited the unanimous conclusion of the American Bar Association’s standing committee on federal judiciary that Grasz is "not qualified’’ for the job.

The following is a statement by Slesinger:

“Mr. Grasz’s peers repeatedly questioned his ability to separate his role as an advocate from that of a judge, his commitment to stare decisis, and his willingness to put aside personal biases when carrying out judicial duties.”
