WASHINGTON – The Environmental Protection Agency today announced a list of chemicals it intends to prioritize for evaluation. Far from being a sign of progress, the move will almost certainly result in weaker protections for formaldehyde, a known human carcinogen.

The following is a statement by Daniel Rosenberg, Senior Attorney in NRDC’s Healthy People and Thriving Communities Program:

“This is only the latest in a string of actions by the EPA that will benefit the chemical industry at the expense of public health.  From day one,  the Trump EPA has acted only in the interests of the chemical industry, and today is another serious setback for non-industry science and for protection from toxic chemicals.”
