Trump Disparages Clean Energy, Touts Climate-Busting Policy

WASHINGTON – In response to a reporter’s question about climate change at the G-7 meeting today, President Trump touted his administration’s efforts to develop fossil fuels and disparaged the fast-growing wind industry.

The following is a statement from David Doniger, senior strategic director in the Climate & Clean Energy program at the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“Asked about the climate crisis, President Trump boasted about his administration’s drive to dig up and burn dirty fossil fuels—which only makes the crisis all that much worse. Trump’s comments also belittled the booming low-carbon economy in the U.S. that is our best ticket to a safe future. The wind industry, for example, today provides jobs for more than 114,000 Americans, power for more than 30 million homes and is poised to take off as costs continue falling.”
