Gov. Wolf Vetoes Harmful Petrochemical Bill

HARRISBURG, P.A. – Governor Tom Wolf today upheld his promise to veto HB 1100 – a bill that would give tax breaks to fossil fuel plants that use fracked gas to manufacture petrochemicals. This comes at a time when Pennsylvanians increasingly want the state to invest in clean energy and family-sustaining clean energy jobs. 

A statement follows from Mark Szybist, Senior Attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC):

“Pennsylvanians are more concerned with keeping their families healthy and safe than doling out cash to the petrochemical industry. Fortunately, Governor Wolf honored his commitment to veto this regressive legislation, prioritizing the well-being of our communities above fossil fuel industry profits. Now more than ever, lawmakers need to provide support to struggling Pennsylvanians and build a more resilient and equitable future based on family-sustaining clean energy jobs. It’s unthinkable that legislators would even consider overriding the Governor’s veto.”
