NJ Adopts Major Energy Efficiency Framework

TRENTON, N.J. – The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) today released the final implementation order for its “Energy Efficiency and Peak Demand Reduction” programs, which will put the state on a pathway to achieve its 2050 climate and clean energy targets. Specifically, the order directs New Jersey’s electric and gas utilities to implement expanded energy efficiency programs across the state, which will help customers save money on their energy bills. 

A statement follows from Eric Miller, New Jersey Policy Director at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council):

“It’s critical that states champion clean energy measures that hold vast job-creating potential and fight harmful climate pollution at the same time. This framework demonstrates a serious commitment to meeting the energy needs of New Jersey’s homes and businesses with affordable, clean options. It’s now incumbent upon the state and utilities to work together to achieve energy savings targets while ensuring equitable access to programs for all customers, no matter their income-level.”
