Trump Administration to Withdraw Disgraceful Pendley Nomination

WASHINGTON – The White House reportedly intends to withdraw the nomination of William Perry Pendley for director of the Bureau of Land Management.  Pendley, who has made racist statements and is an advocate for selling off public lands, would remain in an acting capacity for 210 days.

The following is a statement from John Bowman, managing director of government affairs for NRDC:

“Good riddance to a racist who has no business managing our public lands.  Pendley never hid his intentions to hand over the country’s treasured resources to polluters and should never have been nominated.  And he should be removed from his acting role immediately.

“The administration’s next appointee should be someone who believes in BLM in both senses of that acronym (Black Lives Matter AND Bureau of Land Management), and intends to fiercely protect and steward lands for the enjoyment of future generations.”
