New York States Moves 70 x 30 Climate Goal Forward

ALBANY, N.Y. – The New York State Public Service Commission today issued an order that implements a key component of the nation-leading Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLPA)—obtaining 70 percent of New York’s electricity from clean energy sources like wind and solar by 2030.

A statement follows from Rich Schrader, New York Policy Director at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council):

“Fighting climate change is about protecting people—and New York is showing the way forward. This order will put New York on a path to clean up the air we breathe, make our communities healthier and create thousands of good-paying, clean energy jobs. New York has the roadmap it needs to achieve its nation-leading climate goals—now it has to swiftly put the plan into action and ensure justice and equity are at its core.”
