Biden’s Historic Transportation Plan
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Biden administration released a historic plan today to put the nation on the path to eliminating carbon pollution from transportation. This is the first time that four federal agencies have come to together on a joint approach to achieve this dramatic – and necessary – outcome.
As this blueprint makes clear, a well-planned transition can also address equity, affordability, and accessibility, while creating good jobs and spurring economic growth.
“With this historic plan, President Biden is putting us on the road to a cleaner transportation future,” said Deron Lovaas, a senior transportation advocate at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council). “Now the administration needs to ensure that new infrastructure investments deliver clean, equitable transportation options instead of a future of endless traffic and deadly tailpipe pollution.”
“From day one, President Biden has made it a priority to speed the transition to cleaner electric vehicles. This plan puts that vision into detail,” said Britt Carmon, the federal clean vehicles senior advocate at NRDC. “The most important thing the administration can do now to achieve that goal is enact strong clean car and clean truck standards that will ensure the progress we want becomes reality.”
