A new study finds that as summer ice in the Chukchi Sea shrinks, polar bears are spending more time on land than they used to. So far, the animals seem to be faring OK in their new habitat—but being on terra firma increases the likelihood of encountering people, which could be dangerous for humans and ursines alike.
