Climate Change Explained in 60 Seconds

Global warming is happening, and it is, in fact, our fault. This video shows us how.

December 14, 2014

Only about 40 percent of Americans attribute climate change to humankind. (This despite scientists being 95 percent certain that human activity is causing warmer temps, rising seas, wacky weather, and melting icecaps.) So this holiday season, if you have a relative who belongs to the 40 percent, point him or her to this minute-long clip from the Royal Society and the U.S. Academy of Sciences. In the shortie, scientists succinctly explain (with a bass and snare drum as background music, no less) the greenhouse effect and how carbon emissions—mainly from the burning of fossil fuels—affects our atmosphere. Shut the doubter down. And then pass the potatoes.
