Clarification of Release of NRDC Polling Results on Energy and Commerce Members

NRDC released polling earlier today conducted in the districts of Members of the Energy and Commerce Committee showing strong opposition to Chairman Fred Upton’s draft legislation to dismantle the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to reduce carbon dioxide and other pollutants.

The Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey, conducted for the Natural Resources Defense Council, found support for EPA action on curbing carbon pollution in the home districts of  key committee members: Reps. Mary Bono Mack (R-Calif.), Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), Charlie Bass (R-N.H.), Leonard Lance (R-N.J), Mike Doyle (D-Penn.), Charles A. Gonzalez (D-Texas), and Gene Green (D-Texas).

However, the press release indicated that all these members have sponsored, co-sponsored or publicly expressed their support for pending legislation limiting EPA authority.  That is not the case.  Only Representatives Upton, Mack, Gardner, and Kinzinger have backed such legislation.
